What is iWork?
iWork is Apple’s native office productivity suite that combines Pages, Numbers, and Keynote for creating documents, spreadsheets, and presentations across macOS, iPadOS, iOS, and the web via iCloud. It gives Apple users a tightly integrated alternative to traditional office suites, with a focus on clean design, ease of use, and rich media support for modern work. iWork is widely used by individuals, educators, small businesses, and larger organizations that standardize on Apple hardware, benefiting from seamless use on Mac, iPad, iPhone, and in a browser on PCs.
Originally launched in 2005 as a Mac-focused suite centered on Keynote presentations and later expanded with Pages and Numbers, iWork has evolved into a cross-platform productivity platform. Apple has progressively added real-time collaboration, iCloud sync, and compatibility with Microsoft Office file formats, as well as deeper integration with Apple Pencil, Apple Business solutions, and newer cloud-based workflows. Today, iWork is positioned as a free, built-in set of tools for most Apple devices, with optional premium content and advanced capabilities offered through broader Apple subscriptions.
